The Well Read Llama - November 2025
Do you believe that fiction can boost your
faith?
Christian fiction is a growing genre that now encompasses almost every type of book you can imagine. Romantic comedies, historical sagas, contemporary tales, spine-tingling suspense, epic fantasy—all with a Christian worldview.
Recently I was reading The Rules of Falling For You, a romantic comedy by Mollie Rushmeyer.
The characters were talking about life choices and how hard it can be to trust God with the outcome of uncertain events. One of them said to the other, "Surrender is acknowledging the fact that God has it under control, has our backs, and loves us. We don’t have to carry the burden of making everything right.” There, in a book that made me laugh out loud, was a nugget of truth. It was just what I needed to remind me to surrender to what God was doing in my own life.
Reading can be more than entertainment. It can help your walk with the Lord.
That’s one reason I love interviewing Christian authors about their books and their faith. You can listen to my show The Well-Read Llama every Monday at 10 a.m. Central Standard Time. We’ll talk about all the newest releases and get to know the authors of these inspirational stories. I hope you’ll tune in! You can also find replays of past episodes by looking up Author Erin Mifflin on YouTube.
Reading Recommendations:
Through Water and Stone by Karen Barnett.
A dual timeline novel set at Zion National Park.

All Men Are Liars by Marline Williams.
A groovy Jesus Freak romcom set in the 1970s.
Sense and Suitability by Pepper Basham.
A fun Regency story inspired by Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.
Protector by Megan Schaulis.
A young adult dystopian retelling of the book of Esther.
