Finding Purpose in the Hard Places

Have you ever hit a wall and cried out, "God, what do You actually want from me?" Whether it’s whispered in a quiet prayer or shouted through tears of exhaustion, it is a question that has echoed through the hearts of believers for generations. When life feels heavier than we can bear, we often look to the story of Joseph. His life was a whirlwind of betrayal, injustice, and agonizing delay. Sold into slavery by his own brothers and later wrongly imprisoned, Joseph had every excuse to give up. Yet, the Bible repeats a transformative phrase: “The Lord was with Joseph.”

The Chemistry of Character

Joseph understood a profound truth that we often struggle to grasp: People may intend harm, but God intends a harvest. In Genesis 50:20, he tells his brothers, “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.” God’s favor wasn't a reward for an easy life; it was the result of a heart that stayed aligned with Him in the dark. Joseph didn't develop his strength in the palace; he forged his character in the pit.

Three Keys to Your Calling

So, what is the "ask"? According to Micah 6:8, God’s requirements are simpler—and deeper—than we think:

Do Justly: Choose what is right, even when it’s the hardest option on the table.
Love Mercy: Offer the same compassion and forgiveness you’ve been given.
Walk Humbly: Remain teachable and dependent on Him, no matter your zip code.

Your Faithfulness Matters

Your obedience today isn't just about you; it’s about the generations following in your footsteps. Joseph’s integrity saved nations from famine. Your faithfulness might be the bridge that saves a family, a marriage, or a soul. Stop looking for excuses and start looking for the Hand that is with you. Whether you are in the pit, the prison, or the palace, God wants your heart. Trust Him to turn the "evil" of today into the "good" of tomorrow.
